Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) is rapidly gaining ground in the Yard Management industry. One avenue where it can provide significant advantages is to track, secure and manage items from the time they enter the yard/warehouse through the entire transit. Warehouse/Yard agents can especially benefit from RFID because the technology can make internal processes more efficient and improve responsiveness
RFID for Warehouse Management
Business Challenges:
- Increased pressure to better manage the assets, inventory and labour
- Lack of visibility and decision support capabilities
- Disruptions in product flow that cause customer service
- Increased labour costs
Solution:
Rasilant Technologies has overcome these hurdles faced by Warehouses, by developing a solution for tracking the inward and outward movement of materials within a warehouse. This is achieved by pasting RFID tags on the materials and installing RFID Readers and Antennas at the check points which typically would be the entry/exit points of the warehouse.
All the material information like source, manufacturing date, place, and destination location are all entered against the tag ID. Whenever any material is moved from the warehouse an alert is generated which gets updated in the system database. In case any avoidable material is being moved out of the warehouse an alarm will be raised through the system which will further alert the security.
Also during the life span of the materials within the warehouse, a regular inventory update is possible using RFID enabled handheld devices which will keep the system updated about the location within the premises. Also a constant monitoring of the materials will be possible at anytime by increasing the number of readers and antennas.

Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) is rapidly gaining ground in the supply chain industry. One avenue where it can provide significant advantages is to track, secure and manage items from the time they are raw materials through the entire life of the product. Manufacturers can especially benefit from RFID because the technology can make internal processes more efficient and improve supply chain responsiveness.
RFID can provide immediate and tangible benefits throughout the supply chain. Organizations who take the time to understand the technology’s capabilities and limitations can increase their inventory visibility while streamlining their operations.
Business Challenges:
- Human Error Prone Data & limited analytical scope
- Misplacement of Materials
- Overstocking and under stocking of Products
- Increasing Lead time variable
- Lack of Quality Control & Compliance
Solution:
An intelligent and cost-effective supply chain management solution that integrates RFID Technology, Automatic Control Technology and Applications Software. RFID systems include tags, readers and software to process the data. RFID Tags are usually applied to items. Tags can also be included in more durable enclosures and in ID cards or wristbands. Features of the solution include the following:
- Inventory Control
- Production Tracking
- Shipping & Receiving
- Returns & Recall Management
